Heat and Cold Therapy is Associated with Decreased Pain Treatment Use:

A Retrospective Cohort Study

 Patients who received heat-cold therapy, relative to those who did not, had greater reductions in specialty pain care utilization and risky opioid use, pointing to benefits of heat-cold therapies to health care systems as a result of reductions in costly care utilization and higher-risk opioid prescribing.
